1A. What is meant by an online community? How is it important for e-commerce?
An online community is a group of people who want to gather together around a shared purpose, activity and interest; they are brought together by the chance of shared community feeling with others who share their world views via internet.
Refer to YAHOO's website, there are a number of different technical environments that are used for virtual communication platform that are formed for instance News-groups, Forums, BLOG, E-mail etc. Moreover, an online community is a group of people who need join to meet a need, for example social, information, and learning. Refer to ZOPE's website, there are a lots of technical knowledge articles, resources and documents sharing for the professional developers and web masters.
Before accessing the online community for accessing private resources or member services, users usually need to join in their membership. During registration, users need to fill in their personal information, for example, name, email address, sex, age, etc. Based on those personal information, YAHOO and ZOPE would send their recently promotions, services, new products and web news to their members by email for advertisement purpose.
As a result, a kindly virtual advertising channel is formed, which let their business rapidly grow as more people know their products.
The successful examples are such as YAHOO and ZOPE.

About Me
Hi all,
This is Sam Kwong from Hong Kong, ITC594 is my third module in MIT course and I plan to complete this course before 2010.. >.@ I must try my best to complete all of modules. ^>^
I work for IT related jobs since 2000, and now, I work as a system engineer, my responsiblies mainly provide PRE & PRO - sale activities such as project planning, product implementation and maintentance. Even I have studied many modules about programming development, I still do not have any chances to show my programming skill off. HaHa! Because my job duties which belong to system and network implementation/maintentance are not related to software development. But I alway keep track on reading some programming books and news for update my programming skills.
Besides, I quite enjoy study, in my space times, I would like to take some computer courses, and now, I have got the certificates of MCSE, CCNA, LPI, Linux+ and Teradata professional.
Also, I am interested in searching some funny movies, articles, photos via internet!
On the other hands, I would like to share my feelings, interested video and photos in forums and facebooks.
Moreover, I like playing snooker, reading chinese novel and meet friends, so if your interests are as same as me, please feel free to add me in your msn at samhkci@hotmail.com
